Sahara Wedding 21x18

On a one month, three thousand- mile, camping trip across the Sahara Desert (from Lome, Togo to Tunis, Tunisia), the terrain changed often from low scrub trees in the Sahel, salt encrusted sand, deep canyons, and high dunes, to vast expanses of flat desert. The Dawsons stopped at a cliff dwelling where a wedding was taking place.  Later when painting from her photo, Julie guessed that the girl on the right must have been from the tribe as her cloths were just wrapped around her.  The girl on the left was wearing a sewn garment. Perhaps she was visiting from a city.
